Clock In More Overtime Hours To Reduce Skills Gap

According to a labour market survey conducted by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), it found that fewer employees are working overtime. Based on the results, the average number of paid overtime hours clocked per week has dropped from 3.7 to 3.3 hours.

Minister for Manpower, Lim Swee Say, attributed this decline to several reasons, all of which suggesting that the Singapore workforce is growing and becoming increasingly efficient. Some of his reasons included productivity improvements and tripartite efforts to reduce excessive overtime hours amongst workers.
